Home Assistant Nest

Privacy policy

Effective October 1, 2026. This policy covers the operator’s personal Home Assistant Nest integration and this informational website.

Google data accessed

With the operator’s authorization, the integration accesses selected Nest home and room information, device identifiers, thermostat settings and status, temperature and humidity readings, and device events. Google’s authorization may include home name and ZIP code. The integration can issue thermostat commands that the operator permits.

It also uses Google Cloud Pub/Sub permissions to create or manage the event topic and subscription needed to receive device updates.

How data is used

Data is used to display device state, receive updates, and perform household controls or automations configured by the operator. Google user data is not used for advertising, sale, or training general-purpose AI models.

Storage and retention

OAuth credentials and tokens are stored in the private Home Assistant installation. Device readings and activity may be recorded in its history, logs, and backups according to the operator’s settings. Google processes API requests and Pub/Sub events under its own terms and policies. Retention depends on the Home Assistant, backup, and Google Cloud settings selected by the operator.

Sharing and access

This informational website does not receive OAuth tokens or thermostat data. The integration exchanges authorized data with Google services. Access to data within Home Assistant follows the operator’s account and configuration settings. Additional integrations or exports configured separately by the operator may have their own data practices.

The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Revocation and deletion

The operator can revoke the integration’s access in their Google Account’s third-party connections settings and remove the Nest integration from Home Assistant. Removing authorization prevents future authorized access but does not automatically erase existing history or backups. Those records can be removed using the relevant Home Assistant and backup controls.

Website hosting

This site has no sign-in, forms, advertising, or analytics code added by the integration operator. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the website.

Contact and changes

Use the support email shown on the Google authorization screen for questions. This policy will be updated if the integration’s described data practices change.
